Rasionalitas Kemandirian Lansia di Usia Senja (Studi Kasus Di Desa Kelindang Atas Kabupaten Bengkulu Tengah)

Usia lanjut ditandai dengan penurunan kondisi fisik dan kognitif, yang mengindikasikan bahwa usia lanjut merupakan masa istirahat. Namun, lansia di Kabupaten Bengkulu Tengah tetap mempertahankan kemandiriannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus kualitatif dengan sembilan informan lansia yang dipilih secara purposif. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, survei sosiodemografi, observasi, dan dokumentasi sekunder. Analisis penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan tematik untuk mengeksplorasi dinamika rasionalitas kemandirian lansia dari aspek agensi dan struktur. Hasil penelitian ini menyajikan rasionalitas yang kompleks dari keputusan lansia untuk tetap bekerja mulai dari aspek ekonomi, psikologis, sosial, dan budaya. Tekanan ekonomi dan ekspektasi keluarga membentuk pilihan lansia dari segi faktor struktural. Berdasarkan hal itu, lansia menunjukkan agensi dengan menegosiasikan kemandiriannya dalam keterbatasan ekonomi, fisik, dan sosial. Temuan menarik penelitian ini memperkaya pengetahuan tentang lansia sebagai subjek aktif dalam penentuan keputusan, bukan sebagai objek fasik dari struktur sosial. Implikasinya, program dan kebijakan pemberdayaan lansia perlu mempertimbangkan dimensi sosial, budaya, dan psikologis lansia, bukan hanya dimensi ekonomi.
